The Crisis of Psychoanalysis is a great piece of work from a great psychoanalyst, Mr. Erich Fromm. The "crisis" of which he writes is the crisis of psychoanalysis' failure to adapt itself to sociological forces. A mere focus on the individual is no longer effective, and is becoming (in his view) less and less effective with each passing day.
This is a dense one, but rewarding for anyone who reads it. This is certified Adrian Recommended.
This book is also pretty rare. I haven't seen this anywhere. It was published before ISBN was standardized, so I can't provide that.
Cover's a bit beat up, but all pages are intact and readable.
BOOK SUMMARY
In The Crisis of Psychoanalysis, Erich Fromm critiques aspects of Freudian theory and defends a humanistic alternative. The book addresses what Fromm sees as psychoanalysis’s drift away from social and ethical concerns. He discusses the psychological roots of authoritarianism, alienation, and violence, and argues for a theory of human nature that emphasizes freedom, love, and social responsibility.
