Cool book, especially if you're already interested in Herman Hesse's writing. Of all his fiction, I'd recommend this the most. Rather large book. It's beautiful, although admittedly it has physically seen better days. It's not going to break, but it's beat. This is reflected in the price.
BOOK SUMMARY
The Glass Bead Game (also known as Magister Ludi) is Hermann Hesse’s final novel and a philosophical Bildungsroman set in a fictional, intellectually elite society. The story follows Josef Knecht, a master of the Glass Bead Game—a symbolic, interdisciplinary activity combining elements of music, mathematics, and cultural history. The novel explores themes of intellectualism, spiritual development, and the tension between contemplation and active life.
